Serve as a Volunteer Essay Reader
Each year we need volunteers to read and score essays submitted in our Scholarship Application Process. Sign up here or keep reading to learn more!
Why: Give back to your community with this engaging and rewarding volunteer opportunity!
What: Read and score 20 – 40 scholarship essays submitted by Eagan-area high school seniors through the Eagan Community Foundation Scholarship process. The essays are “scrubbed” to remove names and identifying information. The task should take about 5-7 hours.
When: The essays will generally need to be read and scored between March 13th and March 23rd.
Where: This is a remote volunteer experience - from your favorite recliner, couch, kitchen table, etc. You will need internet access to retrieve the files from a google drive folder.
You will receive access to a google drive folder that contains instructions, sample scores, your assigned essays, a grid to record your scores in.
We will have several on-line orientation sessions (orientation packet and slides - these items slightly outdated but still relevant):
Tuesday, March 5, 6:00 - 7:30 PM
Wednesday, March 11, 7:00 - 8:30 PM
Who: Most everyone is eligible to read, excluding parents that have a current high school senior. (Ideally, you are at least two years away from having a student that is a senior high school student or yourself being a senior high school student.)
