Serve as a Volunteer Essay Reader

Are you looking to start 2019 off with a little volunteer work you can do right from your couch? The Eagan Foundation is still looking for a few more volunteers to read and score essays submitted in its 2019 Scholarship Application Process.

Why: Give back to your community with this engaging and rewarding volunteer opportunity!

What: Read and score 20 – 40 scholarship essays submitted by Eagan-area high school seniors through the Eagan Foundation Scholarship process. The essays are “scrubbed” to screen names and identifying information. The task should take about 5-7 hours.

When: The essays will need to be read and scored in between February 22 and March 3.

How:

  • You will receive access to a google drive folder that contains instructions, sample scores, your assigned essays, a grid to record your scores in.
  • If you would like to attend an in-person training, you can! Current options include 2/6 from 6-8 and 2/12 from 6-8. We’d also gladly schedule a different time or a phone call to answer questions.

Where: From your favorite recliner, couch, kitchen table, etc. You will need internet access to retrieve the files from a google drive folder. The training will be in Eagan.

Who: Most everyone is eligible to read, excluding parents that have a current high school senior.
